Screening Sessions

We are excited to welcome REDEYE into the Auditorium this month for our Screening Sessions Series. Presenting a selection of curated short films. REDEYE focus on curating a range of eclectic non-Western focused films.

About the films:

NYAME MMA – With Writer/Director JoeWackle J. Kusi: Who will console a weeping mother? Kwabena finds his grief is muted as he returns home to lay his father to rest. NYAME MMA so delicately explores what it means to lament a love that crushes the soul as a queer man in Ghana.

APPRECIATION – With Director Tomisin Adepeju: Suffocated by grief and uplifted by faith. An African Pentecostal pastor navigates life after loss.

ESSEX GIRLS – With Writer Busayo Ige: British-Nigerian schoolgirl Bisola shows us what it means to bloom in any soil as she questions her belonging in a predominantly white sphere. In her hometown of Benfleet, Bisola navigates friendships, self-worth, and the challenges of young romance.

AREA BOY – With Director Iggy London: After moving to the suburbs with his mother, young Eli paints the blank slate before him with questions of identity. As his baptism approaches Eli is presented with two roads and a choice of direction, to be carried by religion or tread familiar waters.
